ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Leadership Cultivation program for Youth of Haitian Descent is a recipient of the Education & Culture sub-award sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by Partners of the Americas in partnership with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
The program’s strategic approach involved activities to help teens understand their leadership style and fostering positive growth.

STRENGTHENING OUR VISION
Through a series of workshops and activities, Odo Achievement Center facilitated the program with the aim to empower Haitian youth by providing leadership development opportunities, meetings with local leaders, and support with youth-led projects to foster civic engagement and leadership qualities.
Activities
The teens participated in memorable activities such as a day camp visit to practice their leadership skills, lunch with the Irvington, NJ Chief of Staff and a virtual cultural exchange with youth in Delmas, Haiti who are program participants of the Haiti NJ chapter of
Partners of the Americas.
Born to Lead ran from March to June 2024 for teens aged 13-19. The program was open to teens who lived in Essex County plus a few who lived in surrounding areas. The program will be offered in 2025 for English speaking youth of color and a second group of Haitian youth. To be placed on the waiting list, click on the button below.
